In Unit 1: Foundations of Child Development, trainees receive a comprehensive and in-depth overview of child development from birth to age three, and how direct relationships and the surrounding environment influence a child's growth and development. This course focuses on sensitive and objective observation, and understanding how daily routines and play contribute to uncovering developmental pathways and the child's needs. Content includes developmental neurobiology, risk factors and resilience across different developmental domains, as well as the ways in which culture, relationships and environment influence child development.
