Session 1: Reflect, Research, Record

Your Reflective Journal

Everything you engage with during your training - session handouts, notes from discussions, your own reading, videos or podcasts you find useful - can become part of your Reflective Journal. This is a personal record of your growth as a practitioner, and it can include both written and visual evidence. The key is to annotate what you include: what did this make you think? What did it confirm or challenge? What might you do differently as a result? Start adding to it now rather than waiting - small, regular entries are far more useful than trying to reconstruct your thinking later.

Throughout this course, you will need to visit the C3 TEAS Reflective Journal course on Tilad to post your reflective journal entries.

Research into Practice

The content from TEAS311 - Unit 1: Session 1 is a good starting point for your Research into Practice task, where you will investigate two areas of your own practice. As a teaching assistant, you might find yourself drawn to questions like: How do the relationships I build with learners affect their engagement? What impact do I have on the learning environment? There is no pressure to have your focus finalized yet, but it is worth letting these questions sit with you as you move through the coming sessions.

Your Portfolio

Any portfolio tasks assigned during this course should be submitted to the C3 TEAS Portfolio Tasks course. Both your Reflective Journal and Portfolio Tasks are part of the C3 TEAS Portfolio learning path on Tilad - this is where all your assessed evidence will live throughout your training.
